About this meal planner

The meal plan and the grocery list are one job done in two places, and most printables treat them as two files, so the list you shop from was made without looking at the week you planned. This is one template with two sheets: the week on the first, the list on the second, the same header on both, so they go up on the fridge together and come down together. It is for anyone who plans dinners on a Sunday, shops once, and would like the two pieces of paper to agree.

The week runs down the first sheet, one row a day, with the meals across: breakfast, lunch and dinner, or five with a snack between each. Every cell is ruled for a pen with room for a dish and a note, and the rows share the page, so three meals a day get wider cells than five and the sheet stays one page either way. The week starts on Monday or Sunday, your choice.

The grocery list is the second sheet, in sections: produce, dairy and eggs, meat and fish, bakery, pantry, frozen, household, other. Those are the sample names; the paid version takes yours, up to eight, in your words, because a list in the order of your store is a faster shop than a list in the order of someone else's. Turn the sections off and the sheet becomes one long ruled list in two columns for the weeks that do not need sorting.

Dated or undated is a switch. Undated prints the day names only, so one sheet lasts a year of weeks. Turn Dated on, pick any day of the week you want, and both sheets carry that week's dates, with the day numbers down the side of the plan and the span in the header of the list, so the list you take to the store says which week it was for.

Print both sheets at 100%, not fit to page, on ordinary copier paper, front and back if your printer does that. The light-ink theme is there for the pair you print every week. The free version is this design in the Sage theme, undated, three meals a day, the sample sections, on Letter, with a small credit line at the foot. The paid version takes your title, your sections, the meals and the dates you choose, all six themes, and comes back in Letter and A4 from one purchase, with a link that works for a year.

Questions

Three meals or five?

Either, as a setting. Five adds a snack between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner. The cells get narrower with five and the sheet stays one page.

Can I name the grocery sections?

Yes, in the paid version: up to eight, eighteen characters each, in the order of your store. The free version has eight sample sections. Or turn sections off for one long ruled list.

Dated or undated?

Either. Undated prints the day names only. Dated, pick any date in the week you want and both sheets carry that week, with the day numbers on the plan and the week's dates in both headers.

Can I print it double-sided?

Yes. It is two pages, so a duplex print puts the list on the back of the plan. On a printer without duplex, print page one, put the sheet back the way your printer's manual shows, and print page two.

Will it use a lot of ink?

Not in the light-ink theme, which is thin lines and one accent color, with nothing filled in. It is there for the pair you print every week.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once for the file. There is nothing to cancel.
