Schools hand these out at the end of a term, clubs at the end of a season, employers at the end of a quarter, and a science fair at the end of a Saturday. Most of what they hand out is a word-processor page with a clip-art border and the name squeezed into a line meant for something else. This one is drawn as an award: a heavy border with notched corners, the title set large and upright, the name in italic on its own line, and a rosette with ribbons between the signatures.
The page reads top to bottom. Your organization at the top, with a logo above it if you have one. Then the title, which says Achievement unless you change it, a rule with a diamond in it, "presented to", the name, and your wording: one or two lines saying what it is for, in your words rather than a stock phrase. The achievement itself sits under that. At the foot, a signature line on the left (two, stacked, if you need them), the date on the right, and the rosette between them with up to twelve characters inside it. It comes off with one switch.
The customizer refuses a name that does not fit. Twenty-six characters fill the name line at full size; a longer one is flagged before you pay, and the download waits until it fits. The title gets the same check over two lines. Shorten a middle name to an initial, or drop a title, and the button comes back. Every other certificate maker will sell you the one where the name runs into the border.
Three frames: Classic is the heavy rule with a fine one inside it, its corners notched and marked with a diamond. Modern is the heavy rule alone. Plain has no frame at all, for pre-printed certificate paper. The color themes include a gilt for the ones that get framed and a light ink for a stack that goes through the office printer.
Print at 100%, not fit to page, on something heavier than copier paper: 65 lb cover stock, about 176 gsm, goes through most home printers and feels like a certificate in the hand. The free version is this design with the sample name and organization, in the Ledger theme, on Letter or A4, with a small credit line at the foot. The paid version carries the real name, your title and wording, your signatures, every theme and all three frames, and comes back in Letter and A4 from one purchase, with a link that works for a year.
What if the name is too long?
The customizer tells you, and the download waits until it fits. Twenty-six characters fill the name line at full size. Shorten a middle name to an initial, or drop a title, and the button comes back.
Can I change the words?
Yes. The title can say Excellence, Perfect Attendance or anything else in up to 36 characters, and "Certificate of" above it can change too. Under the name you get up to 140 characters of wording, two lines, saying what the award is for. The sample lines are there to be replaced.
Does it have a seal?
A drawn rosette with two ribbons, with up to twelve characters inside it, on or off with one switch. No clip art anywhere on the page.
Can I make one for every name on a list?
Yes. Turn on the class list, paste up to 40 names, one per line, and you get one PDF with a page for each name and everything else the same. The list is $12, however many names are on it. Every name is checked against the name line before you pay.
Is the free version usable?
It is the same design with the sample name and a small credit line, so it is good for seeing it on paper. A real certificate needs the real name, which is the paid version.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once for the file. There is nothing to cancel.
